Building services design

Comfortable, healthy interiors

Full electro-mechanical design across mechanical, electrical, public health, fire and low-voltage systems - from concept through to commissioning.

What it covers

Engineering

  • HVAC
  • Electrical
  • Emergency power
  • Public health
  • Vertical transportation
  • IAQ consulting

Fire safety

  • Fire engineering
  • Smoke evacuation
  • Detection and suppression

Low voltage

  • Voice and data systems
  • Security systems
  • Building management

How we work

  1. Sized by simulation, not thumb rules

Loads, ducts, pipes and cables are sized from calculations and simulations of the actual building, joined with traditional engineering, so plant is neither oversized nor short of capacity.

  2. Chosen on life-cycle cost

Systems are compared on what they cost to buy, run and maintain over their life, so owners make an informed choice rather than the cheapest one on day one.

  3. With the building until commissioning

We stay involved from the first design to commissioning, because a well-designed system that is badly installed or never balanced does not perform.

Other services

  • Sustainability and net zero

Simulation-led sustainability work: climate, daylight, airflow and energy studies that shape the building before it is built, and the certifications that verify it afterwards.

  • BIM and coordination

We model building services in a coordinated digital environment, integrate them with architecture and structure, and resolve conflicts before they reach site.

  • Existing buildings

Evaluation of buildings in use - what was installed, how it performs, and where energy, water and comfort can be recovered.
